Boat engines & Outboards

When our customers talk about engines for boats, they are often referred to with the generic terms "outboards" and "inboards". This refers to the two main types of engines on board:

Outboard engines ("outboards")

An outboard engine is mounted outside the hull of the vessel. Outboard engines are the most widely used form of propulsion for smaller vessels.

Inboard engines ("inboards")

An inboard engine is mounted inside the hull of the vessel, usually attached to a propeller driven by a drive shaft.
